Experience how Jung’s valuable practice of active
imagination meets the art of dance in authentic movement.
By tuning in to the inner voice and following the inner
impulse to move, we bring internal images into focus,
exploring them with movement, soundings, rhythm, and
breath. Both the mover and the witness participate in
the dialogue between the shadows inside and conscious
awareness. Note: This class is not intended as therapy.
Required reading: Authentic Movement: Essays by
Mary Starks Whitehouse, Janet Adler, and Joan Chodorow,
Patricia Pallaro, ed.
Sally Totenbier, MA, NCC, ADTR, is a
PhD candidate at the Laban Centre, London, where she is
investigating the connections between Laban’s Effort
