Felt Explorations: Art for Reflection

Create handmade felt objects in this simple, fun class. Working with fundamental feltmaking techniques, participants will make a series of small, three-dimensional felt objects, not unlike small sculptures. We will focus on shaping materials by hand, and the work will lead us to reflect on how we shape our own lives. The possibilities are limited only by the physical properties of the materials and the imagination of the maker.

Gika Rector, a former artist in residence at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, has been exploring felt-making as an art form for over 10 years. She gives classes and workshops in felt-making at various schools and centers in the Houston area and beyond.
