What does it mean to father? To have a father? To yearn for a lost father, or one we never understood? In this wise, fascinating historical study, Jungian analyst Luigi Zoja suggests that there is no static, universal experience of fatherhood. Rather, it requires reinvention with each generation, with each child and each father. What psychological gifts do we seek from the father, and what traps might we encounter as we search for him? Please read the introduction and part 1, "Prehistory," before the first meeting.
Required reading: The Father: Historical, Psychological, and Cultural Perspectives, Luigi Zoja
