Experience Haitian archetypes and mythologies and learn about their connection to the African Diaspora. The unique religious amalgam of Haiti will be discussed as it relates both to its African roots and its commonalities with religion and culture in Bahia, Brazil, and New Orleans. This cultural investigation will be illustrated with Haitian and Brazilian art. In the workshop, participants will learn basic Haitian dance movements and the place of dance in the Haitian culture.
