What do we do during our relished downtime? We want to relax and rejuvenate ourselves, but what often happens is that we are just as driven as during work hours. We think we'll rest when we get finished with our "to do's," but the "to do's" never end. Sometimes we even try so hard to relax that our striving gets in the way of true rest.
The practice of mindfulness can help us switch to a being mode and rest into the moment no matter what it brings. Mindfulness, the intentional cultivation of non-judgmental, present-moment awareness, can help us to awaken from our habitual mind states, understand our reactivity to stressors, and address our busyness with greater clarity and creativity.

Research on mindfulness indicates that it helps reduce the immediate effects of stress and produces long-lasting, positive changes in one's life. Those who practice mindfulness have also experienced significant decreases in anxiety, depression, and a variety of physical symptoms. The training helps people gain self-awareness, access and process emotion, reduce reactivity to thought and urges, and access compassion and intuition.

This workshop offers a day of instruction, practice, and discussion, in which participants will learn how to foster the practice of mindfulness meditation and the intentional focus on moment-to-moment experience.
