What role does integrity play in ethical decision making? If we follow Jungian analyst John Beebe, we come to understand that integrity reflects symmetry between our inner experience and the ways we interact with the world. When encountering and assessing ethical issues in our work as mental health professionals, we have been trained to turn to traditional sources of guidance, such as our professional training and licensing rules. In addition to these basic guidelines, how much do we rely on our inner resources - our psychological and life experiences, as well as our individual sense of integrity? When we are ready to engage the ethical questions encountered in our work, does our choice include certainty or doubt? On what does our responsibility and commitment to act ethically, and with integrity, finally rest?

The workshop will include lecture, work with film, and individual and group exercises. We will discover and explore inner and outer influences that contribute to our certainties and/or doubts, as we strive to become more ethical persons of integrity in our professional practice and personal lives.
