Make Your Own Coloring Book

Discover the creative possibilities of line drawings made from your own photographs in this workshop with artist Lisa Qualls.

Saturday, May 15
10 am - 4 pm (1.5 hour break for lunch)
$110 ($100 Jung Center members)
Limit: 15

Make an imaginative coloring book from your photos in this class. We will use photographs to create line drawings on a variety of different papers, which can then be put together as a book or kept as loose pages. We will use painting and drawing techniques as well as photo transfer techniques, small block prints, silkscreens and other surface design techniques to embellish the pages. The results can be used to create mixed-media pieces, books -- or just to play and be creative. No prior artistic experience necessary. Students are welcome to go out for lunch -- or bring a lunch. Materials are included in the registration fee. Students only need to bring 8x10 printed or xeroxed photographs to work from.

Lisa Qualls received her BFA at the University of Texas at Austin. While teaching art in the classroom, she continued to study photography, ceramics, textiles and printmaking at Santa Chiara, Italy; Parsons and The Fashion Institute of Technology, New York; and the Southwest School of Art and Craft, San Antonio.
