Creative Play: A Felting Mini-Workshop

Have fun making your own felt goods in this workshop with artist Gika Rector.

Thursday, January 31
6 - 9 pm
$35 ($30 Jung Center members)

Experience the richly tactile process of making felt by hand. There's something magical about making whimsical or expressive objects from bits of wool. With your hands, using water, soap, and soft merino wool dyed in an array of colors, participants will make at least 3 different objects: a felt ball, cording, and a small pouch. This mini workshop is a great way to spend an evening and catch a glimpse of the possibilities felt-making has to offer. All materials are included in the registration fee.

Gika Rector, a former artist in residence at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, has been exploring felt-making as an art form for over 10 years. She gives classes and workshops in felt-making at various schools and centers in the Houston area and beyond.
