Salomé: The Dangerous Woman

Join Unhinged Productions and The Jung Center for a free staged reading of Oscar Wilde's controversial play Salomé.

Sunday, January 31
2:30 pm
Free
Location: The Jung Center

Explore the dangers of seduction, in the Biblical sense, during this reading and conversation about Oscar Wilde's Salomé. Wilde depicts Salome as a seductress of her stepfather and a murderer of a saint. Using the infamous "Dance of the Seven Veils," Salome takes advantage of King Herod's lust to obtain the object of her desire - John the Baptist. Written in 1893, it caused a scandal when the censors cancelled rehearsals and banned public performances because of the play's use of biblical characters. Please join us for a reading of the play, followed by a discussion of the themes with the cast and psychotherapist Sean Fitzpatrick.
