Get an intimate, practical introduction to Islam in the modern world with author and tour guide Meli Seval, as she discusses how the vibrant religious tradition influences life in her homeland of Turkey.

Located physically between Europe and Asia and culturally between the secular West and the Muslim East, Turkey has long struggled to balance its ambitions as a modern democratic nation with the faith of its people. Islam in Turkey is moderate and adapted to modern life. Many Turks value the moral and spiritual bases of Islam and use The Five Pillars of Islam as a guide to right living and ethical conduct.

Come discover how Turkey, a country that is 98% Muslim, has successfully integrated Islam with the secular values of western democracy.
