Jung suggested that the best way to get at the unconscious (which by definition is outside of normal awareness) is to examine spontaneously produced material such as myths and fairy tales. In this afternoon workshop, we'll dive in and explore the rich symbolism and the psychological depths and dynamics at the heart of The Little Mermaid, a well-known and much loved fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. Along the way, we will discover the enduring relevance of this delightful tale in our own lives. The format of this workshop includes a combination of lecture, film clips, music, and experiential exercises.

Before the workshop, please read the version of The Little Mermaid available on our website at www.junghouston.org/mermaid.htm - and at The Jung Center bookstore.

Diana Heritage, LCSW, Jungian analyst, holds a masters degree in social work from the University of Houston and is a graduate of the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts. She has been in private practice in Houston since 1993.
