Create a connection to the fertile ground of the unconscious imagination through this introduction to the practice of sandtray. In this technique, used widely by therapists and those interested in deepening their engagement with the symbolic life, the contents of the unconscious imagination are made real and visible through the placement and creative arrangements of symbols in a tray of sand. A single symbol can assume innumerable meanings and evoke the profound and multifaceted nature of psyche. Jung suggested that the genuine expressive impulse comes from the struggle to express visions that transcend mundane reality and portray a reality larger than the individual self.

We will explore this genuine impulse and its potential for renewal and healing in this one day workshop. You will create sandtrays and explore their meaning through the process itself and then amplify this experience with meditation, journal writing, drawing, and discussion. This work is ideal for therapists as well as those interested in deepening their relationship with the unconscious and symbolic life.
